13 States Say Airborne Lied About Cold Drug

WILMINGTON, Del. (CN) – More than a dozen states accuse Airborne Health of pushing its “Airborne Original” and other products with false and scientifically unproven claims about its powers to prevent colds and cough. “Airborne Original … has been the number one selling item in the cough and cold section of major retailers within the last two years,” according to Delaware’s complaint.     Similar complaints were filed this month by Texas, Arkansas, Alaska, Washington, Nevada, Ohio, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Indiana, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin.     Many of the complaints, including Delaware’s also name Victoria Knight McDowell and Thomas John McDowell as individual defendants. Airborne Health formerly did business as Knight-McDowell Labs.
