Abortion prescriptions

MIDLAND, Texas — A federal court in Texas granted summary judgment to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which was sued by Texas and a pharmacy over the Affordable Care Act. The state said anti-discrimination provisions could force pharmacies to give abortion-inducing medication to patients in violation of state law and the pharmacy’s religious beliefs, but “much to the court’s surprise,” the agency has said this is not this case and has issued guidance indicating pharmacies do not have to fill prescriptions for abortion meds.
