WASHINGTON (CN) – The FAA will issue an Airworthiness Directive requiring owners and operators of 737s to inspect for burned and damaged wires that can short circuit during flight and shut down an engine. In April, the Federal Aviation Administration grounded American Airlines’ fleet of Boeing MD-80s because the airline did not comply with two year old Airworthiness Directives involving wiring. The new directive applies to certain Boeing 737-100, -200, -200C, -300, -400, and -500 series airplanes. Missing, broken or damaged parts in the electrical boxes of the main wheel well also may be to blame.     Click the document icon on the front page for details and other new regulations.
