Airline Scammer|Faces up to 20 Years

LOS ANGELES (CN) – A Georgia man who bilked airlines for $277,000 in tickets faces up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud conspiracy.     Gilbert Myers Jr., 38, of Atlanta pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.     Myers booked free tickets for his “customers” by claiming they were flight crew members from other airlines. He advised them on how to dress and how to answer questions if they were asked.     He charged his customers $2,000 for one year of unlimited free flights, prosecutors said. He admitted he fraudulently booked hundreds of such flights.     He will be sentenced on March 30.
