Arbitration Sought for Red Riding Hood Sequel

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) – Kanbar Entertainment claims The Weinstein Co. inadequately funded and delayed the release of the animated movie sequel, “Hoodwinked Too! Hood v. Evil,” a retelling of the “Little Red Riding Hood” story. Kanbar seeks to compel arbitration, in Superior Court.     “The choice of a film’s release date is not a random act, and missing a preferred release date, or a particular window of opportunity, can mean the difference between economic success or failure,” the complaint states.      Kanbar claims the Weinstein Co. did not have a release strategy and postponed the opening date beyond the agreed upon “customer-rich Martin Luther King Holiday weekend.”      Weinstein also failed to get the plaintiff’s approval for a toy and commercial tie-in with Burger King, according to the complaint.     Kanbar is represented by David Berke of Beverly Hills.
