Chip off the ol’ thumb

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — A federal court in New York affirmed the $1.9 million award granted to the owner of a 2013 BMW X5, which partially amputated his thumb when he closed the door. The court says the jury’s verdict was proper and that the damages fairly reflect the man’s lost earnings, pain and suffering.
