Clothes Smuggler Gets 2½ Years

LOS ANGELES (CN) – A San Gabriel Valley man who smuggled 11 shipping containers of counterfeit Nike, Gucci, Coach and other clothing into the United States was sentenced Thursday to 31 months in federal prison.     Kevin “Peter” Wang, 54, of Rosemead, pleaded guilty to trafficking in counterfeit goods smuggled from China through the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. He also must pay a $10,000 fine and $50,000 in restitution.     In a separate smuggling case, Hamlet Ayvazyan, 37, of Glendale was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison for smuggling counterfeit auto parts into the United States from China.     The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced the sentences Thursday.
