NEW ORLEANS (CN) **– New Orleans police Detective **Armando Asaro coerced a witness to give false statements accusing Tilal Babiker of first-degree murder, Babiker claims in Federal Court. Babiker, of Middle Eastern heritage, 6 foot 1 and about 200 lbs., claims Asaro cooked up false accusations with an ex con, though Asaro knew an eyewitness described the shooter as black, 5 foot 3 and about 140 lbs. Asaro, who faced the death penalty until the city dropped charges, demands punitive damages. See complaint.
