Staples shorted assistant managers of more than $5 million in overtime pay, a class action claims in Dayton, Ohio, Federal Court.           Class-action complaints alleging Labor Code violations have been filed against these defendants: Regis Corp., in Los Angeles Superior Court; Butterfield Electric, in Sacramento Superior Court; KMart, in Cincinnati Federal Court; Kessler Memorial Hospital, for a mass layoff, in Camden, N.J., Federal Court; Cable Television Installation Service, in Ocala, Fla., Federal Court; Cash Zone, in Houston Federal Court; and First American Real Estate Solutions, in Dallas Federal Court.     (Companies not separated by commas are defendants in the same case.)
