MANHATTAN (CN) – A former New York City cop was sentenced on Thursday to 11 years in prison for conspiring to deal kilos of cocaine, extort under color of law, and carrying a gun while doing it. Juan Acosta, a patrolman in the 43rd Precinct, boasted that his police connections would help in the drug deals, until he was busted in a sting, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in announcing the sentence.
