Ex-wife doesn't have to split winnings

PROVIDENCE — A man who discovered his ex-wife had cashed a winning $4 million lottery ticket a few weeks after their divorce failed to convince the Rhode Island Supreme Court to vacate their final judgment of divorce and declare the ticket a marital asset. Although there were some procedural irregularities in the divorce case, there were no errors that would justify the ex-husband’s request. The ex-wife took her winnings in a lump sum payment of $2.6 million, which was lowered to $1.84 million after taxes.
