Faith-Based Office Remains, With Changes

(CN) – President Obama is injecting the law and the Constitution into President Bush’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.     The new Office of Faith-Based and Community Partnerships continues the government’s work with religious and secular organizations to deliver social services.     However, where Bush’s controversial project depended on the former president’s policies in the area, Obama’s decree is strict about relying on the rule of law and the Constitutional separation of church and state.     Obama also has established the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships which will consist of private citizens appointed by the president who are to develop recommendations for impartially delivering social services by non-governmental organizations.     Click the document icon on the front page for details and links to the new executive order.
