Film Company Sues Texas For Right To Shoot

AUSTIN (CN) – **Actual Films claims the Texas Youth Commission backed out of an agreement to let Actual film a documentary about the Capital and Violent Serious Offenders Program at Giddings State School, after Actual spent $200,000 on the project.     Actual says the TYC OK’d the project, and that Actual obtained informed consent from participants. Actual says it will transform footage into animation and will alter faces to protect identities.      But new TYC Director Dimitria Pope , who took over the TYC after her predecessor had approved the documentary, demands possession of all footage pending her approval. That wasn’t the deal, Actual says. It wants to start filming today (Dec. 11). See complaint.
