The Center for Food Safety brought a <strong><a href="http://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Food-safe.pdf">federal complaint</a></strong> against the U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar for missing mandatory deadlines to designate certain foods as high risk for foodborne illness and to create record-keeping requirements for facilities that handle them.

SAN FRANCISCO — The Center for Food Safety brought a federal complaint against the U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar for missing mandatory deadlines to designate certain foods as high risk for foodborne illness and to create record-keeping requirements for facilities that handle them.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that every year as a result of foodborne diseases 48 million people (1 in 6 Americans) get sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die, according to the complaint.
