General Motors Will Close 4 Plants

WILMINGTON, DEL. (CN) – General Motors is closing four North American plants that make trucks and SUVs, and may try to sell its Hummer division, CEO Rick Waggoner said this morning before the company’s annual meeting.     Waggoner said GM will close its plants in Janesville, Wis.; Moraine, Ohio; Toluca, Mexico; and Oshawa, Ontario. He also said the Hummer brand will be reviewed and could be sold.      The cuts will affect 10,000 workers, equally spread over the four plants, Waggoner said.     Soaring gasoline prices are forcing U.S. automakers to switch to smaller cars.
