Girls aren’t ‘fragile’

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (CN) — The Fourth Circuit upholds the judgment of a North Carolina court that ruled in favor of the parents of girls who challenged their public school for requiring them to wear skirts because girls “are regarded as a fragile vessel that men are supposed to take care of and honor.” The circuit court agrees that the rule violates the Equal Protection Clause and gives the parents another shot at their Title IX claim upon remand.
