SEATTLE (CN) – The Center for Biological Diversity claims the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency violates the Clean Water Act by refusing to protect Washington state from ocean acidification caused by increasing carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. “The major known impact of ocean acidification is that it impairs the ability of marine animals to build and maintain the protective shells and skeletons they need to survive,” the environmental group claims in Federal Court.
