Group Sues EPA Over Lake Champlain

BURLINGTON, VT. (CN) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is allowing Lake Champlain water quality to deteriorate due to phosphorus runoff, in violation of the Clean Water Act, the Conservation Law Foundation claims in Federal Court.     The Foundation says the EPA violated the Clean Water Act by approving the State of Vermont’s Lake Champlain Phosphorus Total Maximum Daily Load provisions, though the water in four “segments” of the lake is of poor quality and deteriorating, and “no segments are improving.”
