LOS ANGELES (CN) – Guardian Media Technologies claims 38 major electronics firms and retailers – including Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Acer, Nintendo, Tivo and DirecTV – violated its patented “parental control” video censoring programs. Guardian says the patents in suit are expired, but the defendants made, imported, distributed or induced patent violations before they did expire. The claim concerns Guardian’s “Selective Playing System” and “Automatic Censorship of Video Programs.” Guardian is represented in Federal Court by Gregor Hensrude. This 13-page filing includes 62 pages of exhibits. Here are the defendants: Coby Electronics, Acer America, Amazon.com, Apple, Bang & Olufsen America, Best Buy, Bose, Cisco Systems, Costco Wholesale, Dell, DirecTV, DirecTV Holdings LLC, Echostar, Echostar Technologies, Fujitsu General America, Imation, Lenovo (US), Lite-On Americas, Lite-On Sales & Distribution, Memorex Products, Microsoft, Motorola, Nintendo of America, Onkyo USA, Overstock.com, Radio Shack, Robert Bosch, Scientific-Atlanta, Sears Roebuck & Co., Sherwood America, Sound Around, Target, Tivo, TTE Technology, Wal-Mart Stores, Viewsonic, Yamaha Corp. of America, and Yamaha Electronics Corp.
