WASHINGTON (CN) – The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration plans to incorporate provisions from certain special permits into the Hazardous Materials Regulations. The provisions would be taken from widely used or longstanding permits that have an established safety record., according to a proposed rule. Special permits allow hazardous material to be packaged or shipped in a way that varies from the Hazardous Materials Regulations, as long as it has the same level of safety. The changes would allow more transportation options without the need for repeated renewal requests. Click the document icon for this regulation and others.
