ICE arrestee’s FOIA requests were wrongly ignored

SAN JOSE, Calif. — A federal court in California found in favor of an El Salvadoran man who, after living in the U.S. for more than 20 years, was arrested by ICE agents outside a bank. He was released by court order the same day and since filed three records requests for copies of his immigration records so he and his attorney can better defend him from future immigration proceedings. Federal agents have not given any legitimate reasons for withholding his records and were ordered to turn over the documents without redactions.
