Inmate Money Trail

WASHINGTON (CN) – The Bureau of Prisons proposed Monday to notify the public that it collects personal identification data from those who send funds to an inmate, “regardless of the form of the deposit.”     The proposal is a clarification of a rule that also allows the bureau to collect the personal identification data of those to whom an inmate sends money.     Any information collected is used to detect unlawful activity.
