Juvenile LWOP vacated

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Supreme Court vacated the life without parole sentence that was given to a man who, at 17, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder. The judge’s remarks at the time indicated hope for his ability to change, which conflicts with his sentence, so the case is remanded for resentencing. The man, now 40, may not be “one of the rare individuals” who is “permanently incorrigible.”
