Neighbor Sues World Trade Center

MANHATTAN (CN) – A 12-story office building across the street from the World Trade Centers suffered more than $50 million in damages from the Sept. 11 terrorism, and the ensuing cleanup of toxic substances. Cedar & Washington Associates sued the Port Authority, Silverstein Properties and the World Trade Center LLCs for costs of the CERCLA-required cleanup.     Cedar & Washington Associates is on the corner of Cedar & Washington, “directly across from the WTC site.” It was set on fire on Sept. 11, and contaminated with asbestos, silicon, fiberglass, benzene, lead and mercury, it says in its federal complaint.
