Neighbor Sues World Trade Center

MANHATTAN (CN) – A 12-story office building across the street from the World Trade Centers suffered more than $50 million in damages from the Sept. 11 terrorism, and the ensuing cleanup of toxic substances. Cedar & Washington Associates sued the Port Authority, Silverstein Properties and the World Trade Center LLCs for costs of the CERCLA-required cleanup.     Cedar & Washington Associates is on the corner of Cedar & Washington, “directly across from the WTC site.” It was set on fire on Sept. 11, and contaminated with asbestos, silicon, fiberglass, benzene, lead and mercury, it says in its federal complaint. Defendants include American and United Airlines.     Cedar is represented by Jay Spievack Cohen Tauber Spievack.
