MANHATTAN (CN) – A New York Police officer was arrested Wednesday and charged with trying to rob a Manhattan apartment of $900,000 left there by a drug dealer who had been deported, federal prosecutors said. Shawn Jenkins told the informant that he used to work as a bodyguard for the dealer, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. Jenkins, 41, allegedly plotted with a “confidential informant” to serve an official-looking document on the apartment’s new tenant, immobilize him with a stun gun, and retrieve the money from under the floor. Jenkins is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and attempted robbery. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison on each charge.
