ATLANTA — A federal court in Georgia blocked an amendment to the Georgia Inform Consumers Act, which would regulate sales transactions on online marketplaces, from going into effect. The law is preempted by the federal Integrity, Notification and Fairness in the Online Retail Marketplace for Consumers Act, which requires online markets to count only sales made through the marketplace in calculating the number of discrete transactions by high-volume, third-party sellers. The Georgia law conflicts with the federal one.
