(CN) – New York Times columnist Paul Krugman today was awarded the Nobel Prize in economics for “having shown the effects of economies of scale on trade patterns and on the location of economic activity.” Krugman, who became famous in the United States as a fierce critic of the Bush administration, told the Times this morning, “It’s been an extremely weird day, but weird in a positive way.”
