St. Louis Rams former defensive tackle Gaylon Hyder sued the NFL, claiming the Rams forced him to take an anti-inflammatory drug for a knee injury, which aggravated his kidney disease, eventually ending his career. Hyder says the NFL Player Retirement Plan denied him benefits, saying his disability “did not arise out of League football activities,” in Houston Federal Court.
