Qualcomm Said To Be Monopoly

SAN DIEGO (CN) – Qualcomm inflates prices for mobile phones and restricts competition through its monopoly of technology, a class action claims in Federal Court.     Plaintiffs claim that Qualcomm’s monopoly allows it “to induce cellular handset and component part manufacturer licensees to enter into anticompetitive, long-term licenses under which they are induced, either vis-a-vis pricing threats or incentives, to agree not to use competitor chipsets.”     The technology said to be controlled by Qualcomm is called CDMA, or Code Division Multiple Access.     Plaintiffs are represented by R.
