Real Housewives nurse beats defamation claim

CHICAGO — An Illinois federal court dismissed the American Society of Anesthesiologists‘ defamation counterclaim against nurse anesthetist and former Real Housewives star Annemarie Wiley, finding her Instagram post criticizing the organization was a protected opinion covered by California’s fair report privilege. Her posts reflected her subjective view of why she sued the society for defamation and merely summarized her allegations in response to the society’s press release about her lawsuit.
