VICTORIA, TEXAS (CN) – Officials at the Victoria Regional Juvenile Justice Center denied medical care to a boy who could barely walk or speak because his appendix had burst, but put him in isolation, denied him visitation rights and misdiagnosed his illness as a “stomach virus,” the boy and his mother claim in Federal Court. They claim that upon leaving the facility, doctors found that his appendix had burst and his intestines were infected due to the delayed treatment. They also sue the Texas Youth Commission.
