Southern California Pair Admit Child Sex Trafficking

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (CN) – Two Riverside County residents admitted they forced a 14-year-old girl to work as a prostitute and took the money from it, federal prosecutors said.     Kawaum Marquez Scott, 24, of Quail Valley, and Nekeyia Necole Weatherspoon, 22, of Perris, pleaded guilty this week to federal charges of sex trafficking.     Scott pleaded guilty to two counts of sex trafficking of a child, and Weatherspoon to one county of conspiracy to engage in child sex trafficking.     They took photos of their victim and advertised her on the Internet, drove her to places in Hemet to engage in prostitution and took all the money she made, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement.     One time, they took her to a motel in Hemet, where she had sex with multiple men for two days, and was paid $2,500 for it, all of which went to Scott and Weatherspoon, prosecutors said.     Plea agreements call for Scott to get 17½ years in prison and Weatherspoon to get 7 to 14 years. A sentencing hearing has been set for July 21.
