While the U.S. economy shows evidence of weakness, Europe continues to show signs of economic strength with wages and salaries rising 3.7 percent in the first quarter of this year while employment rose by .3 percent in the same period, a figure that represents 446,000 people. Germany and Finland outgained the average with .5 percent and .6 percent increases in employment.
