(CN) – Only two drugs have been approved to treat and prevent influenza – Tamiflu (oseltamivir phosphate) and Relenza (zanamivir) – the FDA and FTC said in warning the public not to fall for Internet hoaxers who play upon public fear to sell snake oil. The FTC and FDA said that the swine flu scare has led to a rash of bogus products being sold on the Internet as dietary supplements, foods, drugs, devices, throat sprays or vaccines. Nothing but Tamiflu and Relenza are approved for treatment of the 2009 H1N1 virus the agencies warned.
