SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CN) – A prominent St. Louis-area attorney has been disbarred by the Illinois Supreme Court, according to the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. Tom Lakin, who founded the Lakin Law Firm, is serving a 6-year federal sentence on drug charges. Lakin pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, distributing cocaine to a person under 21 and using his home to distribute drugs. Last October, Lakin was sentenced to 6 years in federal prison, followed by 6 years of supervised release. Lakin is at the Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex in eastern Arkansas.
