Trekkie Says CBS Sold Bogus Memorabilia

MANHATTAN (CN) – **Christie’s and **CBS Paramount Television fleeced a “Star Trek” fan by selling him $24,000 of phony memorabilia at the show’s 40th anniversary auction in 2006, Ted Moustakis claims in New York County Court. Moustakis says he paid $11,400 for a “Commander Data” uniform and $6,000 for Data’s “poker visor,” but when he met the actor who played Data at a Star Trek convention this year, the actor, Brent Spiner, said that the uniform and visor were fake, and that he had informed Christie’s of this before the auction.
