Urologists Sue Chintzy HHS

WASHINGTON (CN) – For 15 years, the **Department of Health and Human Services underpaid urologists for performing lithotripsies, a non-invasive procedure that dissolves kidney stones with sonic waves, and under new regulations, Medicare, which began paying for the procedure on Jan. 1, will continue to underpay them, the Council for Urological Interests claims in Federal Court. The Council claims it represents more than half of the nation’s 10,000 urologists. See complaint.
