Walgreens settles bad billing allegations

HARTFORD, Conn. — The Connecticut Attorney General announced that Walgreens agreed to settle a lawsuit brought by the Department of Justice and the states over the pharmacy retailer’s alleged practice of billing health care programs for prescriptions that patients never received. The settlement totals $97.8 million and state officials thanked whistleblowers for reporting the practice; Connecticut will receive more than $728,000 in restitution from the settlement.
