Welcome to Wal-Mart: Duck!

MIAMI (CN) – A woman says she had to quit her job at Wal-Mart because after she asked to be paid for overtime, as required by law, her bosses “permitted and acquiesced” in having co-workers berate, insult, harass and throw merchandise at her.     Heidi Carlisle claims Wal-Mart misclassified her as an assistant manager, and therefore exempt from overtime pay, but she spent more than half her time on non-exempt work.     When she asked for overtime pay, she says, her bosses created a hostile work environment, demoted her and allowed her to be abused so badly they “constructively discharged her.”     She seeks lost wages, reinstatement or front pay, and costs. She is represented in Miami-Dade County Court by Jose Antonio Llerena.
