SAN DIEGO (CN) – A woman who survived the October 2007 Rice Canyon wildfire by lying in a creek for four hours and breathing through her wet skirt while the fire burned up to the water’s edge has sued San Diego Gas & Electric Co. and Davey Tree Surgery, claiming their negligence caused the fire. Elisa Williams of Fallbrook says her home was burned up in the 9,500-acre Rice Canyon Fire. She says SDG&E hired Davey to maintain its lines and keep them clear of tree branches. She is represented in Superior Court by Alan Jang of Berkeley.
