ST. PETERS, Mo. (CN) – A mayor who resigned after pleading guilty to federal bribery charges says he will run again. Shawn Brown, 37, admitted he solicited and accepted a bribe from a company that installed red-light cameras in St. Peters. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison and was released from a halfway house last summer. Brown said he will run again because he loves the city. A spokeswoman for the Missouri Attorney General’s office told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that state law allowed felons to run for office after they do their time. Brown works for a commercial cleaning and asbestos removal business. St. Peters is 30 miles west of St. Louis.
